Who we are

SameNest is a household organizer for shared homes. It helps you manage shopping lists, finances, events, and documents with the people you live with.

What we collect

Account info: Email address and display name when you sign up. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from Google.

Household data: Shopping lists, financial records, calendar events, and documents you create within your household.

Usage data: We use Google Analytics to collect anonymous usage statistics (pages visited, device type, country, and key product events such as signup and checkout). This helps us improve the service. Google may set cookies on your browser for this purpose.

Server logs: Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses, for a limited time for security and debugging.

How we use it

Your data is used solely to provide the SameNest service. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising. Financial data and documents stay within your household; the only exceptions are the service providers below, used strictly to power features you choose to use.

AI features

Anthropic (Claude API): Powers three features. When you import a bank statement PDF, the file is sent to Claude to read its transactions. When expenses are auto-categorized, transaction descriptions are sent. When you upload a document, its file name (and for PDFs, a short text snippet) is sent to suggest a folder. This runs on Anthropic's commercial API, which does not use your data to train models, and nothing is sent unless you use these features.

Claude connector (optional): If you connect your household to Claude, Claude can read and update your household data (shopping list, events, finance summaries, document names) on your request. This only happens after you explicitly authorize the connection, and you can disconnect it at any time from Claude's settings.

Bank statements you import

When you import a bank statement PDF, the file is sent to Claude to read its transactions.

You upload a statement file — SameNest never asks for bank credentials and has no access to your accounts.

Cookies

SameNest uses essential cookies for login sessions and security (CSRF protection). We also use Google Analytics, which sets its own cookies to collect anonymous usage data. You can disable analytics cookies in your browser settings.

Third parties who process data for us

Stripe: Processes payments securely. We do not store your card details. See Stripe's privacy policy for details.

Google Analytics: Collects anonymous usage statistics to help us improve the service.

Google OAuth: If you sign in with Google, authentication is handled by Google. We only receive your name and email.

Resend: Sends transactional emails (password resets, invitations).

Render: Hosts the application, database, and your uploaded files.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time. EU residents have additional rights under GDPR, including data portability and the right to object to processing.

You can exercise the two main rights yourself, directly in the app: Account settings has a “Download your data” button (a ZIP with your data and documents) and a “Delete account” button. For anything else, or if you prefer we handle it, contact us through our contact page and we will respond within one month.

Retention and deletion

You can delete your account and all associated data yourself, at any time, from Account settings. Deletion is immediate: if you are the only member, your household and everything in it is removed too; if others remain, your personal data is deleted and shared household data stays with them.

One exception: records of payments you made (invoices at Stripe) are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires, then deleted. This is a legal obligation and applies even after account deletion.

Children

SameNest is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16 years of age.
